I look on the net each day for stories that my daughter can relate to. She had a baby 3months ago...jack weighing 11.6 oz and 10 inches long. He is 3 months old yesterday 8/9/01 now weighs 2lb 6 oz. We have a long way to go, but with stories like yours I print them so my daughter can read and see that their is hope.

I will begin teaching two 18 month old micro- preemies this week and was looking for some insight into history, development, the emotional journey and I must say kellie is beautiful and sounds likes she is quite a busy baby. I noticed in your recent update that kellie will begin therapy for gross motor skills. A PT had recommended Gymboree Play Programs to the two mothers I will see this week. The program,s focus is fine and gross motor skills combined with socialization for both parent and child, music and lots of fun. I am not sure if the is a Gymboree by you, but with the guidence of your doctor and information at Gymboree.com, it might be something great for kellie and you. Just thought I could give back a good thought for all the ones kellie gave me by sharing her life for us to experience. Keep smiling kellie!

For Kellie's parents, My daughter Raven Brooke was born 26 October 1997 had R.S.V. at three weeks and she was born cross eyed so I feel for you. I know how it is to deal with insurance companies because I am dealing with Blue Cross and Blue Shield every time I take my 3 year old to the doctor. Raven had her firt eye surgery when ahe was a little older than 2 years. I know that she will have to have more as she gets older. I wish you luck with your daughter. She looks wonderful and happy. I had premature rupture of membranes at 23 weeks, but managed to carry my daughter to 30 weeks when I developed an infection. My daughter's birthday is also February 21, but 1999 instead of 2000. I am always interested in 23 weekers because everyone told us when my water broke at 23 weeks that there was no chance of the baby making it. I love to hear stories of babies who beat the odds! I have a set of twins that were born at 25wks. Alexa weight 1lb. 6oz. and Alexandra weight 1lb 11oz. they are now 2 1/2 yrs. old. Alexa has spastic cerebral palsy and Alexandra is only taking speech. twice a month. Viewing your video made me go back to that time when I had them both in the NICU. I totally understand were you are coming form i also had a baby girl named Serenity who was born on June 10, 1999 weighing 1lb 2oz and 11 inches long!! I loved your web pages and the videos made me cry!! What a true miracle both are babies were!! Serenity is now 18 months old she weighs 18lbs and 12oz she is still a peanut! I can't believe how fast Kellie grew!! Serenity left the hospital 3.5 months after weighing only 3lbs 14oz I was very lucky she didn't even come home on a breathing monitor which was scary!! I have been looking at all the pictures of Kellie,she is a beautiful little girl. I related to some of your experiences, my daughter was born 27th July 1998 at 26 weeks and weighed 932g (2lbs). That was really small and really frightening, and your situation was much, much worse than ours. I can't get over how chubby she is!! Lily has never been chubby!! She weighs just 20lbs at 2 years old. She suffered from the usual preemie things, including IVH grade 3. Today she is a normal little girl and is walking, talking the same as other 2 year olds. We too have a picture of Lily when she was 3 months old with her cousin who was 2 days old and he looks so big next to her its amazing! I too have a micro-preemie born at 22.6 wks on 4/27/97. Unfortunately, Corbin had an IVH grade 3 that progressed to a 4 when her PDA reopened unbeknownst the NICU staff until she kept desatting and having A's and B's. She is 3 now and has a lot of developmental issues thus I don't really participate on Preemie-L other than read the digest version. Hi Juie and Peter! I thought you would be interested to know Julie (Hilton)Sones delivered a healthy, 8 pound little girl last week. She's waited about 14 years since her last baby and never thought she'd have another child. I think she said you and she were in lamaze (?) classes together and were due about the same time. She was very disturbed to hear Baby Kellie came too soon, but she'll be delighted to know how miraculously well our dear baby girl is growing now! Kellie -- You sure are beautiful!! And obviously getting stronger everyday! I remember my days in the NICU, all the lights and sounds. I used to watch as mommy and daddy would peer in through my isolette, and I loved cuddling with them when my Dr. would let me. You're going to be home in no time, and when you do I can give you tons of pointers on driving your mom and dad crazy (in a good way, of course!!) Of course we already knew that, when the miracles started making themselves known, it was apparent that you would be known as the "Miracle Baby" of Wesley/Wichita! and now the internet and T.V.! Kellie, You have no idea who I am, but my family and I have been praying for you and reading about you for weeks! We feel like we know you so well. I have four daughters, and the youngest was born about a month after you were... She was over eight times your birth weight (9 lb., 12 oz.) and twice as long! I'm sure it won't be long until you catch up to her though--you're gaining on her by leaps and bounds :-) My daughters, husband, and I have looked at your pictures, prayed for you, and rejoiced at each forward step along the way.
